Kite surfing: Golf Course Car Park, Borth Wind Direction: NW Wind Stength: 10-14 knots Surf / Sea State: Flat Air Temperature: 16ºC Sea Temperature: 17ºC Weather: Overcast Max Speed: Distance Covered:
A pleasant day at the beach, and a successful kitesurfing session. Miguel
was there with an 8.5m Wipika Free Air, Shem with his 12m Caution and me
with my 11m Free air... It seemed as though my kite was generating the most
power so I was the first up and going as the wind filled in. I was losing
lots of ground downwind to start with but iwhen you have 3 miles of sandy
beach to play with it didn't really matter and it also meant I was moving
away from the area of beach with lots of holiday makers on.
The board felt fine and once the wind picked up a little I started to hold
my ground upwind better. On some occassions I was poiting quite high
upwind, but wasn't really maintaining that course consistently enough to
actually gain ground.
Still, I was pleased with my performance and felt in control and as though
I was getting a little more comfortable... Why did I not get a twin tip
board before?? Since geting out on it, I've actually enjoyed kite-surfing
and have spent about 2 hours on the water, which is more than I'd spent
kite-surfing in the last 4 years!!! I quite enjoy the 'turning' side of
things as well, just slide the board a bit and then engage the rail again
to go the other way.
Steve was out windsurfing on a 9m sail and BIG board. He went off into the
mist and returned about an hour later. Kirk also arrived later and went out
windsurfing.
